THE SHORT ANSWER

Players report black and blue dragon encounters and bonds, but the sources checked do not establish a guaranteed route or reliable probability. A reported encounter is useful evidence of possibility, not a promise that repeating the choices will reproduce it.

The useful part of a route report

The October 2 bonding megathread includes discussion of a tree encounter with an additional shadow option, followed by blue or black dragon possibilities. Its contributors also describe failures and differing outcomes. This is community observation, not a published explanation of the game engine.

The October 1–2 discussion contains another important detail: a player reported that a second person making the same remembered choices did not receive the same later option. That is a reason to keep context with every route, rather than treating a short list of answers as a universal solution.

Encounter, choice, and bond are different events

A sighting tells you what appeared in one attempt. A choice tells you how that player responded. A bond tells you the final result. Conflating these steps creates misleading advice such as calling every sighting a successful route.

When reading a screenshot, check which event it actually documents. A scene featuring a dark silhouette is less specific than an explicit result label. A written recollection can still be helpful, but should remain labeled as recollection rather than upgraded to confirmed game behavior.

Try a careful comparison

If you want to compare your own attempts, use the same recording format each time. This makes discrepancies easier to see and gives other players enough detail to understand your report.

  • Record the encounter date and a short scene summary.
  • List the options actually visible, including an unexpected extra option.
  • Mark whether you saw a dragon, attempted a bond, bonded, or failed.
  • Keep an unknown outcome as unknown rather than inferring a result from a crash.

Do not turn a small sample into odds

People with unusual results may be more likely to post than people with ordinary ones. Repeated attempts by the same person can also dominate a small thread. Counting a handful of screenshots cannot produce a trustworthy drop rate or tell you how long your search will take.

Choose a personal stopping point before chasing a particular color. A useful journal helps you remember the adventure you had; it should not imply that another attempt is certain to deliver the result you want.

Questions along the way

Is there a guaranteed black dragon answer sequence?+

No guaranteed sequence is established by the linked sources. Treat any published route as an account of an attempt, with missing conditions possible.

Does the shadow option always appear?+

Community reports describe variation. We cannot establish when it appears or a numerical chance of seeing it.
